the battleground: part one

Ask me my favourite film and I'll be hard pressed to give you a definitive answer. But there's always a few that will forever hover within my top ten. It's a similar deal with buildings. I've no straight forward favourite, but this one will always be in that mythical short list. I love it all the more for it's dishevelled state, looming over the 1930's estates and terraced streets around it.

The battle over it's fate has been long and who knows when it will end, but I'm certain it will never be as magnificent in future incarnations as it is now. This summer I took advantage of the chance to wander around the site, camera in hand, a rare opportunity which more than lived up to expectations.
